About Koosh
The Koosh Ball is a toy that consists of multiple soft rubber strands emanating from a central rubber core. It was invented in 1986 by Scott Stillinger, who was looking for a toy for his children that was easy to grab and throw. The unique name “Koosh” came from the sound the ball makes when it lands.
In 1987, Stillinger, along with his brother Mark Button, founded OddzOn Products Inc. to market their innovative product. By 1988, the Koosh Ball had become one of the most popular Christmas gifts in the United States, gaining immense popularity among children and adults. Following the success of the balls, the company expanded its product range, adding more than 50 different products, including keychains, baseball sets, and yo-yos.
Today, since 2020, Koosh balls are produced by PlayMonster in collaboration with Hasbro, and the toy itself continues to delight fans around the world.
In addition to the classic ball models, other variations were released, for example, Koosh Kins – characters with faces and hands, presented in a comic book series from Archie Comics. These characters lived on the planet Koosh and traveled the universe, bouncing off other planets, which added additional dimensions and interest to the toy for children.
Today, the Koosh Ball continues to be a popular product, offering various options – from rainbow to textured models. These toys are widely used not only as entertainment, but also as sensory toys that help children with special needs, as well as stress relief toys.
